      New Campus Ministry Information

Preface
Campus ministry presents a greater opportunity for the expansion of the Kingdom than perhaps any other field of evangelism today. The entire spectrum of beliefs, attitudes, philosophies, and religions, set in a composite of races and languages, is present for anyone who takes the gospel to the campus. Our society places a high premium upon knowledge, and it is clear that tomorrow's leaders in virtually every field are on today's campuses. Given this setting, the words of Jesus Christ are immediately brought to mind.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19 - 20)

Can there be a better place to "Go ye therefore, and teach" than the college campus? The potential in campus ministry is staggering.

As with any outreach effort, challenges do exist. It is a truth, however, that the Gospel is as effective on the college campus as it is anywhere else. If any target of evangelism deserves our attention, the campus does.

The purpose of this material is to help a congregation get started in campus ministry. Each church / campus relationship is unique, and, as such, the ideas contained are not prescriptive (i.e., everybody must do a, b, c). Instead, this information is intended to serve as a framework for the development of your effort.

A Word about Campus Ministry International

Campus Ministry International (CMI) was formed to enable and encourage local churches to effectively reach out to the college and university populations in their vicinities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is done by a variety of means, including motivating Districts and churches to establish and maintain campus evangelism, providing materials and training to aid in the formation of these campus ministries, acting as a clearinghouse for the gathering and distribution of new information, ideas, and materials, and establishing communication and cooperation between campus ministries in our fellowship.
